Questions & answers

Everything worth knowing about One Good Thing — the minimal, one-line-a-day gratitude journal, free on iPhone and Android.

What is One Good Thing?
One Good Thing is a minimal gratitude journal that asks for just one line a day. Each day you write a single sentence about one good thing — nothing more. It keeps a gentle streak as you go and never nags, so reflecting stays a small, calm habit rather than a chore. It's free on iOS and Android.
How is it different from other gratitude journals?
Most journaling apps ask for more — prompts, long entries, and daily reminders that pile on guilt. One Good Thing asks for less: one sentence, written once, and you're done. It keeps a gentle streak and unlocks small rewards as you go, but nothing nags you and there's no backlog to catch up on — so it's an easy place to start, or return to, a journaling habit.
Does it have streaks and reminders?
Yes — it keeps a gentle daily streak and a row of dots for the current week, and writing 7, 14, and 30 days in a row unlocks small rewards: a handwritten font, a calm colour theme, and a piece of artwork for your entries. Reminders are optional and off until you turn them on, and they never nag — if you stop writing for a while, they quietly pause on their own.
Do I need to write every day?
No. Write when something matters and let the rest go — there's no backlog and no catching up. Writing several days in a row builds a streak and unlocks a few small rewards, but if you miss a day you simply start a fresh streak, with no guilt or nagging.
Is it free?
Yes — free to download and free to use every day. A one-time upgrade unlocks your full archive of past entries.
What device do I need?
One Good Thing runs on any iPhone with iOS 15.1 or later, and on Android phones. It's free on both the App Store and Google Play.
Where are my entries stored, and are they private?
Your entries live on your device. On iPhone they sync privately through your own iCloud, and on Android they back up to your private Google Drive app storage — so they follow you to a new phone. There are no accounts and nothing is posted publicly. See our privacy policy for details.
Where can I get it?
One Good Thing is available now on the App Store and Google Play.
How do I delete my data?
On iPhone, delete the app and its iCloud data (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage). On Android, delete the app and clear its backup from your Google Drive app data. Once removed, your entries are gone for good. See our privacy policy for details.
